Post-Operative Rehabilitation
Post-Operative Rehabilitation: Recovering After Surgery
Following surgery, our Post-Operative Rehabilitation Program focuses on helping you regain strength, flexibility, and functionality safely. Both our physiotherapists and exercise physiologist can play a crucial role in designing and implementing exercises that target weakened areas, build pelvic floor and core strength, restore joint function, and guide you through a structured return to daily activities or return to sport.
Key Components of Post-Operative Rehabilitation:
- Post-Surgical Evaluation and Advice: Assessing your post-operative needs based on surgical reports and collaborating with your surgeon to ensure optimal care.
- Individualised postural exercise Programs: One-on-one sessions that gradually build core strength, hip stability, and mobility to support the surgical area.
- Progressive Mobility and Strengthening: Techniques like PhysioPilates, functional movement training, and general body strengthening help improve overall function.
- Soft Tissue Therapy and Pain Management: Addressing scar tissue, stiffness, and residual pain through manual therapy as needed.
- Home Exercise Program: A customized exercise plan through our mobile app allows you to safely continue exercises at home.
Graded Return to Activities: Structured planning to ensure a safe return to sport or daily activities, with continuous monitoring to prevent overuse or re-injury.
Post-Operative Rehabilitation Benefits:
Completing a comprehensive rehab program is essential to regain pre-injury levels of strength, flexibility, and confidence. Our team provides reassurance, expert guidance, and support every step of the way, helping you safely progress toward your recovery goals.
What to Expect in Your Physiotherapy Sessions
From your first session, our physiotherapists will develop a recovery plan tailored to your specific surgery and needs. Here’s what you can expect:
- Initial Consultation and Planning: We consult with your surgeon to review operation and medical reports, ensuring we have a comprehensive understanding of your surgical procedure.
- One-on-One Sessions: Initial sessions include individual assessments, gentle exercises, and soft tissue therapy, if needed.
- Group Rehabilitation Options: Once ready, you can join semi-private exercise classes (up to 4 participants) for continued, supervised rehabilitation in a supportive environment.
Our approach to prehab and rehab is all about empowering you with the right exercises, tools, and support so you can approach surgery confidently and recover effectively.
